Tracy’s sister Carly and her roommates let us borrow their bikes so we could tool around Winter Park together. After getting up a 4am, fishing all day, eating a delicious meal at the ShipYard (which I mistakenly called the “Boat House” all week) we thought it was the perfect evening for a ride.
We stopped at a Kraft Azalea Gardens on Lake Maitland in central Winter Park. This park had HUGE trees. Bright white Ibis birds were nesting in a bunch of them, which was really cool and also horrifying since at any moment bird poo was destined to fall from the sky. Luckily, all 4 of us made it out of the park without an incident.
As we were riding back to Aaron and Tracy’s house we heard an owl hoot hooting. Then we slowed down and heard another owl somewhere else hooting back. Aaron spotted the first one, then he spotted the other one and I slowly walked up to the tree it was in and tried to take a picture. Unfortunately my dad wasn’t there with his camera because he could have taken an awesome National Geographic-looking nature pic. The owl was looking right down at me with his crazy eyes… he probably was thinking he should swoop down and peck me – but he didn’t. I escaped. Riding bikes is a great way to explore. We had a great time exploring Winter Park.
